Yavatmal has a History research institute known as Shardashrama founded in 1932 by Dr. Y. K. Deshpande. The institute conducts research in the field of ancient Indian history. It has, since its inception, succeeded in tracing some valuable manuscripts and publishing them.

It also consist historical document which number above 1000, one of those document is written by the Governor Lord Cornwallis, the historical treasure contains books on Law, Science, Medical, Pilgrims, and Specimens of Technology, Chants, Astrology,Panchangs, Womanhood, law document, document on the period of Bhosle’s  & Muslim rule their decision On religion, Correspondence of Peshwa, The Jadhav’s of Sindhkhed’sRecord , it also contain epic on “Kamshastra”, Mahabharata (pictorial Edition),Tamrapatra (copper plate), Antique Stone Sculptures & coins.
